Biography

Short Description

Anton Kastelic, associated in some databases with Wikidata item Q130396482, does not appear in the standard historical, ecclesiastical, or hagiographical reference works against which a careful biography can be checked. No birth year, death year, place of origin, or place of burial can be confirmed from reliable published sources. The given name Anton is a common Central European form of Anthony, and the surname Kastelic is characteristically Slovene, but onomastic likelihood is not a substitute for a documented identity, and it would be improper to assign this person a nationality, diocese, or century on that basis alone.

No entry for Anton Kastelic is found in the Roman Martyrology, in the Acta Sanctorum, or in the ordinary lists of beatified and canonized persons of the Catholic Church. There is likewise no record of this name among the bishops of Rome or among the patriarchs and catholicoi of the Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Coptic, or Church of the East traditions. Claims of sanctity, patronage, a feast day, or membership in a religious order cannot be verified and are therefore omitted.

Because the subject is obscure in printed and widely cited sources, even basic facts of state of life remain unknown. It is not documented whether he married, remained celibate, or had children. Without parish registers, necrologies, diocesan directories, or scholarly monographs that can be independently checked, a fuller life cannot be written without invention.

Anyone seeking a reliable account would need to turn to unpublished archival material—baptismal and burial books, personnel files of a particular diocese or religious community, or local Slovenian or Central European church histories—and to treat those records with the same caution required here. Until such evidence is produced and corroborated, the biography of Anton Kastelic must be left largely blank rather than filled with conjecture.
