Biography

Short Description

Félix Yuste Cava bears a Spanish-language personal name, yet he does not appear among the well-documented popes, patriarchs, or universally celebrated saints of the Catholic, Orthodox, or Oriental churches. Standard historical dictionaries, national biographical encyclopedias, and the principal editions of the Roman Martyrology do not furnish a confirmed year of birth, place of birth, or year of death that can be cited with confidence. In the absence of such anchors, no attempt is made here to assign dates or to confuse an unknown birth year with the year of any ecclesiastical appointment.

The combination of surnames Yuste and Cava is consistent with families from Spain or from Spanish-speaking regions of the Americas, but a surname pattern alone cannot establish a birth city or country. No reliable source consulted for this notice identifies a religious order to which he belonged, a diocese he served, or a spouse or children. It is therefore impossible to state whether he lived as a married layman, a celibate diocesan priest, or a member of a religious congregation.

No liturgical feast day, list of patronages, or place of burial can be verified. Likewise, there is no evidence of a papal or patriarchal election, nor of a formal decree of beatification or canonization issued under a named pope that can be tied securely to this exact identity. If Félix Yuste Cava was among the large number of Spanish clergy and laity who died violently in the twentieth century, that identification would require a specific entry in the acts of a beatification process; such an entry has not been corroborated here.

Hagiographical writing must distinguish between tradition, local memory, and documented fact. For an obscure subject, the responsible course is to record the limits of knowledge rather than to fill gaps with conjecture. Further archival research in diocesan, civil, or religious-order records would be needed before a fuller biography could be written. Until that research is published in a citable form, the principal biographical fields remain blank.
