Biography

Short Description

No reliable historical or hagiographical source available in standard reference literature identifies a figure named Filofteia Antonescu, including under the Wikidata item Q138426975, with a documented life, cult, or ecclesiastical career. The identifier itself is consistent with a recently created catalog record rather than with a person treated in older martyrologies, synaxaria, episcopal lists, or scholarly biographies. In the absence of parish registers, monastic chronicles, printed lives, or peer-reviewed historical studies that can be checked against this name, dates of birth and death, places, and offices cannot be stated.

The given name Filofteia is the Romanian form of Greek Philothea (“friend of God”) and is borne by several Orthodox saints, most prominently the thirteenth-century child martyr Saint Filofteia of Argeș (also called Philothea of Tarnovo), whose relics have long been venerated at Curtea de Argeș in Romania. That medieval saint is a different person: she is not recorded with the family name Antonescu, and no source links the two identities. The surname Antonescu is a common Romanian family name and does not, by itself, establish kinship with any particular historical household or with the political figures who later bore it.

Nothing verifiable places Filofteia Antonescu in a religious order, on an episcopal or patriarchal throne, or among the canonized or beatified. She does not appear in lists of popes of Rome or of Alexandria, nor among Orthodox or Oriental Orthodox patriarchs and catholicoi. No feast day, patronage, burial site, or marital and family status can be confirmed. Any fuller biography would require primary documents that are not attested in the historical record consulted here; until such evidence is produced, the subject remains obscure and the fields above are left blank rather than filled by conjecture.
