Biography

Short Description

Frančiška Trdan Kozina is not attested in the major published martyrologies, acta sanctorum, or standard biographical dictionaries of Christian saints and blesseds that can be treated as reliable historical sources. The given name Frančiška is a South Slavic feminine form of Frances (Francesca), used especially in Slovene and Croatian; the surnames Trdan and Kozina likewise belong to the Slovene onomastic sphere, and Kozina is also a toponym in the Slovenian Littoral. Those linguistic clues do not, by themselves, establish a birthplace, a date of birth, or a date of death, and no such dates or places have been verified here from independent historical literature. The Wikidata identifier Q130396666 indicates a recently catalogued item, but its underlying references were not independently checked against primary records for this notice.

No entry for this name appears among the canonized saints of the Roman Martyrology, nor in well-known regional calendars of Slovenian or Croatian saints as those calendars are represented in widely cited hagiographical handbooks. There is therefore no verified feast day, no verified patronage of places, causes, professions, or groups, and no documented act of beatification or canonization by a pope or equivalent authority. She did not hold the see of Rome and did not hold a patriarchal or catholicosal office in an Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Coptic, or Church of the East church.

Whether she lived as a laywoman, a married person, a mother, or a member of a religious order cannot be determined from the sources available for verification. Claims of monastic profession, marriage, or children would require parish registers, diocesan archives, or other local documentation that have not been cited in the standard historical literature used here. In the absence of those records, marital status, offspring, and religious-order affiliation must be left unspecified rather than inferred from the name or from the request for a hagiographical sketch.

Because so little can be confirmed, a responsible biographical notice must remain limited. Frančiška Trdan Kozina may be a local or family figure of religious interest in the Slovene lands, but that possibility is not the same as a documented vita. Anyone seeking a fuller life would need to turn to unpublished or locally held sources—parish books, obituaries, diocesan processes, or the references attached to Wikidata Q130396666—rather than to the printed hagiographical tradition. Until such sources are published and critically assessed, the historically cautious account is that her dates, places, and ecclesiastical status remain unknown, and that she is not a verified saint or blessed of the universal calendar.
