Biography

Short Description

Ignacio Tejero Molina does not appear in the principal hagiographical collections, the Roman Martyrology, the Acta Sanctorum, or the standard biographical dictionaries of the Catholic hierarchy. No reliable historical source among those commonly used for the lives of saints, blesseds, or notable ecclesiastics records a verified date of birth, place of origin, or date of death for a person of this name. The given name Ignacio is the Spanish form of Ignatius, and the surnames Tejero and Molina are well attested in Spain, but a Spanish-sounding name alone does not establish nationality, birthplace, or career.

A careful historian must distinguish this subject from other persons with similar surnames. Antonio Tejero Molina (born 1932), a Spanish Civil Guard officer associated with the attempted coup of 23 February 1981, is a different individual and is not a religious figure. No evidence connects Ignacio Tejero Molina with that family or with any public political career. Likewise, no bishop, abbot, or founder of a religious congregation by this exact name is listed in the standard catalogues of the Catholic episcopate or in the annals of the major religious orders.

Because the subject is not found among the popes of Rome, the Coptic popes of Alexandria, or the patriarchs and catholicoi of the Eastern churches, those offices can be excluded. There is no record of a canonization or beatification under this name in the decrees of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints or in earlier papal bulls of canonization. No feast day, patronage, or cultus is documented in diocesan calendars or in popular devotion that can be verified from published sources.

In the absence of parish registers, published necrologies, or scholarly monographs that can be checked, the remaining biographical fields—place of birth and death, burial, religious profession, marriage, and children—cannot be filled without conjecture. The present notice therefore records only what can be stated with confidence: the subject is not a pope or a patriarch, and no securely attested hagiographical tradition attaches to the name Ignacio Tejero Molina.
