Biography

Short Description

Ivan Kozina, listed in some catalogues under Wikidata identifier Q130396671, cannot be securely identified in the standard published corpus of Christian hagiography or in widely cited historical biographical literature. No birth year, death year, place of origin, place of death, or burial site can be confirmed from reliable historical sources. This account therefore records the limits of verification rather than a reconstructed career, in keeping with the rule that an empty field is preferable to an invented date or office.

The given name Ivan is the ordinary South Slavic form of John and is borne by men among Croats, Serbs, Bosniaks, Slovenes, and related peoples. The surname Kozina is attested in the western Balkans. Those onomastic facts situate the name culturally but do not establish the century, diocese, or vocation of any particular bearer. No list of bishops of Rome, no catalogue of Coptic popes of Alexandria, and no register of Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Coptic, or Church of the East patriarchs or catholicoi includes a prelate of this name; he was therefore neither pope nor patriarch.

The Roman Martyrology, the Bibliotheca Sanctorum, and the principal dictionaries of saints and blesseds do not record a cultus, feast day, patronage, canonization, or beatification for Ivan Kozina. No religious order, spouse, or children can be documented. Claims of martyrdom, monastic profession, or pastoral office would be conjectural and are omitted.

When an obscure name is attached only to a recent identifier, the historian’s duty is silence rather than invention. Should church archives, local necrologies, or a critical biography later supply dates, places, and a verifiable life, those findings would replace the present blanks. Until such evidence appears, Ivan Kozina remains a name without a confirmed biography in the accessible historical record.
