Biography

Short Description

María del Olvido Noguera Albelda is a figure for whom independently verifiable biographical documentation in standard historical dictionaries, martyrologies, and hagiographical reference works is extremely scarce. The given name María del Olvido follows a Spanish Catholic naming pattern in which a Marian or theological epithet (here “del Olvido,” “of Forgetfulness” or “of Oblivion”) is combined with María; the surnames Noguera and Albelda are consistent with Iberian, especially Aragonese, Catalan, or Valencian, onomastics. Albelda is also the name of a municipality in the province of Huesca, yet that toponymic coincidence does not by itself establish a place of birth or family origin. No parish register, civil inscription, or published necrology that can be confirmed from widely available reliable sources has been attached to this exact combination of names.

The Wikidata identifier Q11769263 indicates that some structured data about the subject has been entered in that project, but the underlying citations are not independently corroborated here. The name does not appear among the canonized saints of the Catholic Church, nor among the most frequently published international lists of those beatified as martyrs of the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939), although thousands of lesser-known religious sisters and laywomen from that conflict remain incompletely documented outside diocesan archives and Spanish-language local studies. In the absence of those primary or critically edited sources, it is not possible to assign a century of birth or death, a religious congregation, or a precise place of life and burial.

Spanish women bearing this style of name in the later nineteenth and twentieth centuries might have belonged to active teaching or nursing congregations, to contemplative orders, or simply to the baptized laity; none of those possibilities can be affirmed or denied on present evidence. Likewise, no documented spouse, children, or public ecclesiastical office can be verified. She was not Bishop of Rome, nor Coptic Pope of Alexandria, nor patriarch or catholicos of any Eastern see. No feast day, patronage of places or causes, or papal act of beatification or canonization can be attached to her name from sources that meet ordinary historical standards.

A responsible hagiographical or historical account must therefore stop at this limit. Further research would require consultation of Spanish diocesan archives, the records of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, civil registries, and regional historical societies in Aragon, Catalonia, Valencia, or other areas suggested by the surnames. Until such documentation is produced and critically assessed, María del Olvido Noguera Albelda remains an obscure subject whose life cannot be narrated in verified detail without risk of substituting conjecture for fact.
