Biography

Short Description

Pedro Salcedo Puchades is not attested in the principal published martyrologies, the Roman Martyrology, papal bulls of beatification or canonization, or the standard biographical dictionaries of the Catholic Church and of the Eastern churches. The name follows the Spanish double-surname pattern, with Salcedo as the paternal surname and Puchades as the maternal surname; Puchades is a surname historically concentrated in the Valencian Community of Spain. That onomastic evidence is the only reasonably secure indication of origin. No birth year, death year, place of birth or death, burial site, or ecclesiastical office can be confirmed from independent, citable historical sources, and no office-taking date may be substituted for a birth year.

He does not appear among the Bishops of Rome, the Coptic Popes of Alexandria, or the patriarchs and catholicoi of the Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, or Church of the East traditions. No feast day, patronage, religious order, or diocesan process is recorded for this name in the reference works available for verification. It is therefore not possible to state whether he was a diocesan priest, a member of a religious institute, a layman, married, or the father of children, nor whether any cultus was ever approved.

Spanish ecclesiastical history, especially in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, includes many priests, religious, and laypeople with similar compound surnames, including victims of the Civil War and local parish clergy in Valencia and neighboring provinces. Identifying Pedro Salcedo Puchades with any of those individuals would require civil registers, diocesan archives, or contemporary press that are not present in the standard hagiographical and historical literature. In the absence of a published vita or a documented cause for beatification, a more detailed reconstruction would be speculative.

The fields that demand a verified year of birth, places of birth and death, burial, marital status, children, religious order, and acts of beatification or canonization are therefore left blank. Further work in Spanish diocesan and civil archives would be required before a reliable biography could be written.
