Biography

Short Description

The subject labeled “Tit” and associated with Wikidata identifier Q23659093 cannot be securely matched, from verified historical literature available here, to a single well-documented person. “Tit” is a short or vernacular form of the Latin name Titus, used especially in Slavic, Romanian, and other Eastern Christian onomastic traditions. That name was borne by several distinct figures: the New Testament companion of Paul later remembered as first bishop of Crete; late-antique bishops such as Titus of Bostra; Byzantine and Slavic monks and wonderworkers; and modern clergy. Conflating any of those lives with this particular identifier would be guesswork, which a careful hagiographical notice must refuse.

No episcopal list, martyrology, synaxarion, or modern biographical dictionary consulted in a verifiable way attaches Q23659093 to a Bishop of Rome or to a patriarch or catholicos of an Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Coptic, or Church of the East see. No feast day, patronage, religious order, place of birth or death, or act of beatification or canonization can be cited for this item without risk of borrowing details from another Titus or Tit. Years of taking office, if any existed, are not years of birth and are not recorded here.

Because the identification itself is not confirmed, marital status, children, burial place, and gender are left unstated rather than inferred from the usual male use of the name. The historical record for many local or lesser-known bearers of this name is thin: often a single calendar entry, a brief notice in a diocesan catalog, or a modern database row without a vita. In such cases the honest account is that the life has not been reconstructed from primary sources in a way that would support precise dates or a continuous narrative.

Until the Wikidata item is independently checked against a named vita, an episcopal catalog, or a reliable national biography, this entry records only the lack of confirmed facts. Further work would begin by establishing whether Q23659093 denotes the apostle, a medieval monk, a modern martyr, or another person entirely, and only then collecting birth, death, and cult data from sources that actually name that individual.
