Biography

Short Description

Valerijan Učak, recorded under Wikidata identifier Q114050565, is not treated in the standard ecclesiastical encyclopedias, national biographical dictionaries, or hagiographical corpora that would permit a fully sourced life to be written. Printed and digital reference works on the Catholic, Orthodox, and Oriental churches, together with regional encyclopedias of the South Slavic lands in which the surname Učak is attested, do not yield a securely identified cleric, religious, or saint of this exact name with independently confirmed dates of birth and death. In the absence of such sources, no year of birth, year of death, or places of birth, death, or burial can be stated, and no office-taking year may be substituted for a birth year.

The given name Valerijan is the South Slavic form of the Latin Valerianus, a name borne by several early Christian martyrs and by later bishops; those figures belong to late antiquity or the early Middle Ages and cannot be identified with a person surnamed Učak. The surname itself occurs in Croatia and neighboring regions of the western Balkans. Without contemporary documents, necrologies, provincial chronicles, or a reliable modern biographical notice explicitly tied to Q114050565, it is not possible to assign this individual to a particular diocese, religious order, or century, nor to determine whether the subject was a diocesan priest, a member of a religious congregation, or a layperson.

No corresponding entry has been located in the Roman Martyrology, in the synaxaria of the Eastern churches, or in the lists of blesseds and saints promulgated by the Holy See. Consequently no feast day, patronage, or act of beatification or canonization can be recorded. There is likewise no evidence in the accessible historical record that this person occupied the see of Rome or any of the patriarchal or catholicosal thrones of the Eastern churches, offices whose incumbents are exhaustively documented.

Because monastic or clerical status, marriage, and offspring are not documented in sources that can be verified here, those fields remain unspecified. A responsible notice must therefore remain largely negative: it records the name and the Wikidata identifier, notes the onomastic and geographic hints that a researcher might pursue in Croatian, Bosnian-Herzegovinian, or other western Balkan parish books and archives, and declines to invent a career, a chronology, or a cult. Further work in local records or in the references underlying the Wikidata item would be required before any of the empty fields in this record could be filled with confidence.
