Biography

Short Description

Vicente Sales Genovés is recorded in structured biographical data collections under the Wikidata identifier Q16615487, which indicates that compilers of that resource regarded him as a person of some notability. Beyond that identifier, however, the major international encyclopedias, national biographical dictionaries, and widely cited ecclesiastical or civil reference works do not supply a connected, source-based account of his life. A responsible notice must therefore remain extremely limited and must not invent offices, dates, or a cultus that cannot be verified.

The given name Vicente is the ordinary Spanish and Valencian form of Vincent. Sales and Genovés are surnames well attested in eastern Spain, especially in the Valencian Community; Genovés is a toponymic or ethnic surname linked with Valencia and its hinterland or with families of Genoese origin settled on the Iberian Peninsula. These onomastic facts support the cautious observation that the subject most probably belonged to Spanish, and more specifically eastern-Spanish, society, but they do not by themselves establish a birthplace, a century of activity, a profession, or membership in any religious institute.

No primary or reliably cited secondary source has been identified that records a precise year of birth or of death, a city of birth or of death, or a place of burial. Equally absent from the accessible record is documented information about a spouse, children, or lifelong celibacy, about profession of vows in a religious order, or about any later liturgical commemoration. He is not known to have occupied the see of Rome or any patriarchal or catholicosal throne of the Eastern churches.

Because of this paucity of verified data it is not possible to assign a feast day, a list of patronages, or the name of a pope who beatified or canonized him. A fuller biography would require systematic work in parish registers, notarial protocols, and diocesan archives of the Valencia region, together with any specialized Spanish biographical repertoires that lie outside general international reference collections.
