Biography

Short Description

Vladimir Vvedenski (the surname is also commonly transliterated Vvedensky) cannot be identified with a single, securely documented biography from widely corroborated historical sources matching the given Wikidata identifier. The personal name is East Slavic and masculine; the family name is a typical Russian clerical surname formed from the Church Slavonic title of the feast of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple (Vvedenie). Individuals so named appear in late imperial and Soviet-period ecclesiastical records, almost always as Russian Orthodox parish clergy rather than as members of a named monastic order, and they are concentrated in the Russian Empire and the subsequent Soviet Union. No source that can be verified here establishes a birth year, birthplace, or death date for the specific person tagged Q107476274, and those fields are therefore left blank rather than filled by analogy with other men of the same name.

The difficulty is compounded by homonymy. Memorial books and diocesan lists of clergy repressed in the 1920s and 1930s record more than one priest named Vladimir Vvedensky, with differing places of ministry (often in central or northern Russian dioceses) and differing circumstances of arrest or death. Hagiographical summaries attached to some of those names describe a married parish priest who continued pastoral work after 1917 and perished in the anti-religious campaigns; other notices are too brief to support even that outline. Because those notices are not uniform and cannot be tied unambiguously to this Wikidata item, no claim is made here that the subject was married, had children, belonged to a religious order, or died a martyr. Likewise, no feast day, patronage, act of canonization, or act of beatification can be assigned without risk of attributing another man’s cultus to this subject.

Nothing in the available record places this individual on the list of bishops of Rome or among the patriarchs or catholicoi of the Eastern churches. The name does not appear among the recognized popes of Alexandria or among the holders of the great patriarchal sees. If the Wikidata item refers to a local new martyr or confessor of the Russian Orthodox Church, that identification would have to rest on diocesan archives, the databases of the Church’s canonization commission, or the item’s own references—none of which can be confirmed to the standard required here. Until such a match is established, biographical precision would be conjectural.

This notice is therefore deliberately incomplete. The subject belongs, so far as the name and the likely ecclesiastical milieu indicate, to the world of Russian Orthodox clergy of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, a world in which many obscure priests left only a line in a service record or a file in a security archive. Further research in those primary materials may eventually fix dates, places, and family circumstances; in their absence, empty fields are preferable to a composite or borrowed life.
